Kathmandu, 14 Jan, 2016: The Supreme Court (SC) of Nepal has banned for  withdrawals of politically motivated cases.

SC has also made it clear that because of withdrawals of such cases in recommendation of political parties the criminal justice system and good governance in the country may be seriously challenged.

The constitutional bench of the SC has also made meaningless to some of the cases which were decided for withdrawals in near past.

On Thursday, the bench consisted Five Judges, headed by the Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha taking the hearing of writ petition of certiorari  issued by lawyers Madhav Basnet and Prakash Mani Sharma has ruled out for finalizing the cases in line with the established law of the land.

In the order of the bench it is said that the withdrawals of the cases are seen baseless but in the interest of political parties’ has been discriminatory.
