Last year 47.26 percent examinees had cleared the exams in Grade XI. This year 1.94 percent more examinees have passed the exams.
The increment in the results despite the devastating earthquake on April 25 is a positive signal, said Controller Aryal.
“The exams had been arranged in two phases – one starting June 16 and the other July 9,” Aryal told Republica, adding, “the pass percent has increased by 2% this year despite psychological stress. This is a positive sign.” “But still around 51 percent students have failed the exams. The HSEB will render efforts toward improving the results after making a thorough analysis,” he added.
According to Aryal 126, 930 students appearing under partial category, 43,983 (34.65 pc) have passed the exams. The results of nine students – four under regular category and five under partial category – have been withheld while the results of 96 examinees have been cancelled over misbehavior, said Aryal. The chance exam for those failing one subject has been scheduled for January 23.
